General Model 130-1 14" PLaner

Extra heavy-duty cast-iron construction
Compact easy-to-use design
Precision cutting system for superior quality
Powerful industrial motor of North american design

This compact 14” planer takes up little space in the workshop. Its precision cutting system produces superior quality finished products. The quality of its components and the strength of its steel and cast-iron construction make it a reliable, heavy-duty workhorse. It has earned its reputation over the years as being an efficient, strong, and long-lasting piece of equipment.

A-

Feed is controlled by a worm screw and cast-iron reduction gearbox running in oil to reduce wear. The control lever is situated ergonomically to the right of the operator.

B-

The cutting system is made of a high-quality, precision-machined steel cutterhead mounted onto 2 sealed and lubricated-for-life ball bearings. The cutterhead drives the in-feed roller that is solid and corrugated and the out-feed roller that is smooth. (For best results, the feed roller is mounted rigidly so never feed more than two pieces of stock at noce). Helical springs and setscrews in the upper section assure that the correct tension is applied to the rollers. The adjustable pressure bar produces the necessary tension behind the cutterhead in order to produce accurate work. The cast-iron chip breaker controls the feed by adjusting pressure as needed.

High-quality, extra heavy-duty cast-iron frame is heavily ribbed to eliminate distortion. It has been machined and polished with precision and assembled to the highest degree of care.

The extensively ribbed, precision-machined, cast-iron table moves along 4 machined guideways; adjustable gibs ensure that the table stays parallel with the cutterhead and compensates for wear overtime.

The large handwheel easily raises and lowers the table by turning 2 threaded rods and worm gears.

A graduated scale in front of the machine indicates depth of cut ranging from 1/16” to 6” (1.6 to 154.4 mm).

A magnetic switch with overload protection is easily accessible on the machine for greater safety.

The powerful, enclosed and ventilated industrial motor of North American design has a dynamically balanced cast-iron pulley that drives the cutterhead through a 2 matched V- belt.

The machine is very solid and stable because its cabinet is made of a one-piece, cold-formed and welded high-quality steel structure.
